From Practitioners to Professionals: How ICM Qualifications Are Shaping the Future of Beauty & Cosmetology

The beauty and wellness industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors globally. But for those who want to reach the top, a passion for the craft must be backed by internationally recognised standards.

Today, ICM are proud to feature two remarkable alumnae, Ann Wanjiru and Brenda Sialo, who have used their ICM Diplomas as a launchpad to become educators and leaders in the field.

Ann Wanjiru: Building a Foundation of Excellence

Currently training as a Beauty Therapy Trainer at the Kenya School of TVET, Ann’s journey is a testament to what discipline and high-quality training can achieve. For Ann, the ICM experience was about more than just technical ability; it was about professional identity.

The Diploma in Beauty Therapy equipped me with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills aligned with international standards. Beyond technical competence, the training emphasized professionalism, hygiene, client care, and ethical practice.

Ann notes that these core values, instilled during her ICM studies, have been the essential building blocks for her credibility in a competitive industry.

Brenda Sialo: The Path to Leadership

Brenda’s educational path took her from the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS) to the Kenya School of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (KSTVET). Her story highlights the versatility of an ICM qualification, covering everything including hairdressing, beauty therapy, makeup, skincare, and salon management.

Without ICM's high-quality qualifications, I might not have reached this level of confidence and opportunity. If you're thinking about a career in cosmetology, choose recognized qualifications - they truly shape your future.

Brenda is now focused on teaching methods and skills assessment, ensuring that the next wave of cosmetologists enters the workforce with the same rigorous standards she met during her own studies.
