
A major milestone for leadership development in Iraq’s energy sector was marked this week at the Oil Cultural Center in Baghdad.
Under the patronage of His Excellency Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, we officially launched the British Executive Diploma – Level 5: “Advanced Effective Leadership in the Oil, Gas and Energy Sector.”
This event brought together government officials, international experts, and academic leaders to celebrate a new era of capacity building for Iraq’s most vital industry.
The launch highlighted a powerful collaboration between international bodies and local leadership. Mr. Adair Ford, CEO of the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM), addressed the attendees, emphasizing the value of bringing British standards and international accreditation to the region.
The goal is clear: to equip future leaders with the strategic thinking and global best practices necessary to navigate the evolving challenges of the energy market.

The ceremony was also an opportunity to recognize those driving change in the sector. Honorary shields were presented to key supporters, including the Director General of Training at the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, an award presented by H.E. Mr. Khaled Al-Mansour, Ambassador of Bahrain to Iraq.
Special recognition was also given to Ms. Ibtisam Haider, honored as the "Unsung Hero" for her dedicated contributions behind the scenes.
With broad participation from oil companies, provincial councils, and the Baghdad Governorate, this launch was more than just a ceremony, it was a statement of intent. The Level 5 Executive Diploma is now positioned as a premier national platform for leadership development.
