Independent Advisor

ICM is a global charity providing a wide range of professional qualifications in business, management and related vocational areas. Our head office is based in Ringwood, Hampshire and we are seeking to appoint Independent Advisors.

This role is voluntary with reimbursement of expenses and requires a commitment of approximately 1-2 hours per month to review documents and participate in meetings (either face-to-face or online).

Key Responsibilities

• To contribute actively as an independent party to the Academic Board in considering Appeals and Complaints from Approved Centres, ICM Learners and other appellants.

• To review ICM policies and procedures affecting key areas of the charity’s business to help identify areas for improvement.

• To act reasonably and prudently in all matters relating to ICM.

• To hold ICM to account for compliance with any known constitutional, legal, regulatory and statutory requirements.

Qualities and Skills  

A suitable Independent Advisor will possess:

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• A willingness to speak their mind.

• Analytical ability and good independent judgement.

• A willingness and ability to devote the necessary time and effort to attend the Academic Board as required, including preparing and reading for those meetings.

Knowledge and Experience

A suitable Independent Advisor will possess or be willing to develop:

• Experience and knowledge of education.

• Experience of malpractice, complaints or appeals processes.

• Experience of administration and/ or customer service.
