The Wessex Academy for Field Archaeology (WAFA) started out as an idea from the Wessex branch of the Council for British Archaeology (CBA) in early 2013, and is based at Ash Farm, near Stourpaine, Blandford in Dorset. WAFA grew out of the realisation that many of those with an interest in archaeology and who wanted to learn how to ‘read’ landscapes, recognise ancient finds and to dig were without the opportunity to do so. With the help of ICM, WAFA has been able to provide a venue to teach Learners within the setting of a long-term landscape study, and the project continues to grow. Please visit www.wafa.org.uk.
