Population Studies aims to develop Learners’ advanced understanding of population dynamics and their relationship to community development, social change and policy planning. Learners will critically examine demographic theories, population structures, fertility, mortality, migration, urbanisation, population data systems and population projections.
The unit also explores how demographic evidence is used to analyse inequality, vulnerability, service demand, development priorities and sustainable community planning. On completion, Learners will be able to critically interpret population data, evaluate demographic trends and apply population analysis to complex community development and social policy contexts.
This unit forms part of the Community Development and Social Change Qualification.
Example Candidate Response Booklet
Example Candidate Response (ECR) Booklets are a source of crucial information for Centres and Candidates as they use real candidate responses. We ask Senior Examiners to comment on five or more responses in terms of why the mark was awarded with commentary about how to improve the answer (if necessary).
