ICM Professional Diploma Unit

Digital and Communication Skills for Agribusiness aims to develop Learners’ ability to communicate effectively and use digital tools in agribusiness settings. Learners explore communication processes, job application skills, business correspondence, meetings, computer systems, Microsoft Office and business software. On completion, Learners will be able to apply communication and digital skills to support professional interaction, business documentation, information management and agribusiness operations. This unit forms part of ICM Level 4 Diploma in Agribusiness Management Professional Qualification.

Process of Communication

  • Purpose of communication: information transfer, persuasion, coordination, relationship building
  • Verbal, non-verbal, written and digital communication
  • Communication process: sender, message, channel, receiver and feedback, encoding, transmission, decoding, noise, feedback
  • Barriers to communication: language, culture, technology, physical noise, psychological barriers
  • Strategies for effective communication in agribusiness: active listening, clarity and conciseness, appropriate medium selection, feedback seeking, cultural awareness

  • Application letters: structure, tailoring to agribusiness roles, highlighting relevant experience
  • Curriculum vitae and resumes: chronological, functional, agribusiness-specific sections
  • Interview preparation and interview skills: researching the employer, common agribusiness interview questions, STAR method, questions for interviewee

Example Candidate Response (ECR) Booklets are a source of crucial information for Centres and Candidates as they use real candidate responses. We ask Senior Examiners to comment on five or more responses in terms of why the mark was awarded with commentary about how to improve the answer (if necessary).
