Community Development Principles

ICM Professional Diploma Unit

Community Development Principles aims to equip Learners with a foundational understanding of how communities’ function, the processes that guide community-led change and the organisational structures that support sustainable development interventions. Learners explore the principles, values and approaches that underpin effective community development practice, including empowerment, participation, partnerships and collaboration.

The unit enables Learners to recognise the roles of organisations, workers and stakeholders involved in community initiatives and to appreciate the importance of sustainability and government engagement in achieving long-term impact.

This unit forms part of the Community Development and Social Change Qualification.

Example Candidate Response Booklet

Example Candidate Response (ECR) Booklets are a source of crucial information for Centres and Candidates as they use real candidate responses. We ask Senior Examiners to comment on five or more responses in terms of why the mark was awarded with commentary about how to improve the answer (if necessary).
